Skinny Skis

Nordic skiing is a family sport nearly anyone can enjoy. The county offers three fee-based Nordic centers: the Frisco Nordic Center on the Peninsula Recreation Area in Frisco; the Breckenridge Nordic Center at the base of Breckenridge Ski Resort's Peak 8; and the Gold Run Nordic Center at the Breckenridge Golf Club. The Raven Golf Course in Silverthorne also grooms its snow-covered greens in the winter - and it's free.

Frisco provides 40 kilometers of beginning to expert terrain, groomed daily for classic and freestyle skiing, and 13 kilometers of snowshoe trails that traverse the peninsula of Lake Dillon. Breckenridge recently constructed a skier bridge and two tunnels for a continuous looped trail system. Gold Run's 22 kilometers of skating and classic trails wind across and up historic Delaware Flats and Gold Run vally, at the mount of the Swan River north of Breckenridge.

Trail pass tickets are exchangeable between cebters, and you can also trade skis for snowshoes at no additional cost. Combined, the three centers deliver 90 kilometers of flats, rolling hills and open meadows.
