Rafting the High Country

Colorado river rafting is one of the most exhilarating summer activities. Whether you prefer a mild float or a wild ride, the cool water and towering scenery will refresh your spirit.

The Colorado River takes you on a gentle float trip through granite and red rock canyons. It's perfect for young children (age 4 and older), especially because they'll find dinosaur tracks. Clear Creek ranges from class II to IV. Brown's Canyon in the Arkansas River is one of the most popular runs in the world. Experienced rafters can up the ante with a trip through the Royal Gorge, also in the Arkansas River.

For a list of local river outfitters, check the Summit Chamber website at www.summitchamber.org or the Colorado River Outfitters Association online at www.croa.org

The Numbers, is a trip that takes you through seven rapids in seven miles - a challenge for even the most physically fit.
