Snowmobiling outfits in Summit County provide both guided and unguided tours, lasting from an hour to a full day. Packages range from first-timer family tours, which feature groomed trails and wide-open meadows to off-trail and steeper hill climbing. Companies also cater to private groups, such as wedding parties or corporations, or those who prefer to take their time snapping pictures or eating lunch. One of the most popular snowmobile tours takes riders 11,585 feet in elevation, to the Continental Divide at Georgia Pass. Two-hour tours cost approximately $95 for a driver and $45 for a passenger.
Machines range from entry-level 550 ccs to high-performance 973 cc Vectors and new, more environmentally friendly Yamaha four-strokes. Prices differ between companies, but a half-day rental starts at approximately $145, including a tank of gas. Some fees include full-piece snowsuits, and all include helmets.
